Aaron Bast is a Managing Director and General Partner at Graphite Ventures, based in the Waterloo–Toronto corridor, where he backs Canadian B2B founders at the seed stage. He focuses on companies building capital-efficient growth with early market traction, helping founders preserve the optionality that leads to sustainable, founder-controlled growth.
Aaron has spent over 20 years in Canada’s technology ecosystem, first as an operator and then as an investor. Before joining the firm that became Graphite Ventures, he served as CFO of Miovision Technologies, a Waterloo-based B2B company, where he helped scale operations from early-stage to international markets across North America and Europe. He also spent four years as a Manager at Ernst & Young, building the financial discipline he now applies to advising founders on capital-efficient growth strategies.
In 2014, Aaron joined the MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund as Senior Investment Director, spending seven years leading seed-stage investments across the Waterloo Region, one of Canada’s most active B2B software ecosystems. When the fund became Graphite Ventures in 2021, Aaron stepped into his current role as Managing Director and General Partner, investing out of the firm’s $120 million Fund IV.
